Test of a prototype Microstrip Silicon Detector for the FOOT experiment

چکیده

The FOOT (FragmentatiOn Of Target) experiment aims to measure the fragmentation cross-section of protons into H, C, O targets at beam energies interest for hadrontherapy (50-250 MeV H and 50-400 MeV/u C ions). Given short range fragments, an inverse kinematic approach requiring precise tracking capabilities in a magnetic volume has been chosen. A key subsystem this will be Microstrip Silicon Detector, based on 3 X-Y measuring station, each composed two 150 μm thick single side microstrip sensors. In work, we present results characterization new version 64 channel low-noise/low power high dynamic readout ASIC subsequent tests first um sensor prototype. series were also performed validate novel “grazing angle” approach, where it is possible change track length below given strip varying incoming particle’s incident angle onto test electronics without using Z ions.

Scipp-00/48 Simulations of the Silicon Microstrip Detector for the Glast Experiment

Device simulations of the silicon microstrip detectors that will equip the Tracking System of the GLAST experiment have been performed. The influence on the electric characteristics of both strip pitch and width have been evaluated. First, a DC calculation is done to predict the risk of breakdown within the working bias conditions. Then, the backplane and interstrip capacitances are estimated b...

Prototype Si microstrip sensors for the CDF-II ISL detector

Prototype Si microstrip sensors for the CDF-II ISL were fabricated by Hamamatsu Photonics and SEIKO Instruments using 4A technology. The sensor is AC coupled and double-sided forming a stereo angle of 1.2073. The strip pitch is 112 lm on both sides. The main di!erences between the two manufacturers lie on the technologies of passivation and the structure of coupling capacitors. We describe the ...

First microstrip detector prototypes for the CBM Silicon Tracking System

The STS plays a central role in the CBM experiment as it will exclusively perform track and momentum measurements of the charged particles created at the target. One of its key requirements is an especially low-mass construction, essential for achieving momentum resolution down to about 1%. This is particularly challenging because the high charged-particle densities (up to 30 per cm) and the hi...

The feasibility of using microstrip gas detector as radon detector for earthquake prediction

In the last decade, several studies have concluded that elevated concentrations of radon gas in soil or groundwater could be the sign of an imminent earthquake. It is believed that in case of sudden movement of rocks before earthquake, radon is released from the depth of ground and reached the surface. In this way, by measuring Radon concentration change, earthquake prediction is possible. In t...

Cherenkov detector of the AMS experiment : test beam results with a prototype

The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) to be installed on the International Space Station (ISS) will be equipped with a proximity Ring Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) detector for measuring the velocity and electric charge of the charged cosmic particles. This detector will contribute to the high level of redundancy required for AMS as well as to the rejection of albedo particles. Charge separation up ...
